Project Leadership

for BlueLab EASE

The Work

BlueLab EASE tackles projects that enable accessibility with sustainable engineering. One of the BlueLab EASE projects is connected to partners in Nicaragua and addresses the seating needs of children there with cerebral palsy.

My Role

As the design lead for this project team for over 2 years, my role was to:

  1. Lead the project for an interdisciplinary team in a way that (1) ensured every team member had a chance to learn and/or practice something related to the design process (2) made sure we were making progress on our project.

    1. This included tasks like: breaking up the design process into digestible chunks, facilitating weekly meetings & discussions, teaching design thinking skills & techniques, delegating action items, providing feedback, etc.

  2. Maintain frequent communication with stakeholders in Nicaragua to collaborate through the design process.

  3. Provide my own efforts and insights to the project. This work included: conducting research, ideating, prototyping, 3D modeling, analyzing, building, testing, and planning.
